02/13/2018 – Kansas City, MO – CST Industries, formerly Columbian TecTank®, Building on its 125 year legacy as the world’s leading bolted steel tank, silo and aluminum dome manufacturer, has launched a new remotely operated vehicle (ROV) for potable water and fire water tank inspection service that offers clients the option of using ROV’s to inspect their water tanks. Potable water tank inspections must be carried out periodically to mitigate health risks to municipal and industrial facilities that require their use. This NDT Visual Inspection Process is applicable to meet several industry standards including NFPA 25, as well as local and regional jurisdictional requirements and is the perfect solution for evaluating coating integrity and protecting the life of the tank.

Typically, water tanks are taken out of service to be emptied and inspected directly by personnel, a process which can be hazardous, costly and time consuming, and sometimes taking several days. CST’s new service allows clients to instead utilize a sanitized ROV, which removes the need to drain and refill the tank, mitigates risks to personnel and can ensure that tanks are not removed out of service. When evidence of corrosion is detected, CST can make treatment recommendations, repairs and patch recoating or facilitate a complete tank refurbishment when needed. All data is backed by an inspection video and associated reports.

Tom DeDonder, Vice President of Construction Services at CST Industries said, “CST’s new ROV inspection service will help our customers realize the overall condition of the interior and exterior of their tank, which will assist in identifying and budgeting for any necessary repairs. All the work can be done while looking after their bottom line, and keeping their tanks in service at the same time.” CST also offers turnkey repair and modification services along with customer OEM replacement parts providing a single source service to its customers.

CST has 125 years’ experience in the tank industry, with experienced tank crews to service any bolted or welded tank world-wide.
