08/01/2017 – Kansas City, MO – CST is proud to announce that Coastal Construction has awarded CST the contract for the design, engineering and fabrication of the dynamic entryway at the Residences by Armani Casa Condominiums in Sunny Isles, Florida.
The entry canopy will grace the 649-foot high modern glass tower condominium project as designed by Giorgio Armani, Cesar Pelli of Pelli Clark Pelli Architects and in conjunction with renowned local Architects, Sieger-Suarez Partnership. Set along the soft white sands of the Atlantic Ocean in Sunny Isles, Florida, Giorgio Armani has brought his talent for understated elegance to the Residences by Armani Casa.
The elegant porte cochere entryway will be covered by CST’s all aluminum large span glazed canopy structure. The glazed structure has specific design intent that only aluminum extrusion technology could satisfy. CST’s engineering team has developed a custom extrusion that creates the depth of structural element desired by the architectural requirements as well as provide for masking the fire suppression system and fasteners creating an entry that appears to float over the residences as they arrive home.
Aluminum’s non-corrosive nature was a major decision making factor for the developers, the Related Group and Dezer Development, who understood the benefit of a lifetime of a rust-free canopy with zero life cycle costs in a salt water environment.
“CST is very excited to have been involved in the development of the dynamic glass porte cochere with this renowned team of architects/designers and the team of The Related Group and Dezer Development. This group has redefined the South Florida landscape and it is an honor to have developed the unique system that satisfied all of the project’s requirements. The process involved a lot of creativity, adaptability and expertise that only CST Engineering staff can achieve” says Grace Ferretti, Global Business Development Manager – Architectural Division of CST Covers.
