The Butterfly Dome at the Guadalajara Zoo is 79′ (24 meters) in diameter, 58′ (18 meters) high and is a 4-frequency dome. The dome system consists of 131 hubs, 370 struts, 20 anchors and 240 panels. The panels are a welded, 1/8″ square wire mesh attached to the inside surface of the dome frame.

The mesh forms a complete seal to keep the butterflies from exiting. The finish is a gray polyester powder coat for high durability. The entrance comes up from beneath the dome looking directly up into the butterfly area.
