CST domes and spaceframes have long been popular structures at zoological attractions. The Brookfield Zoo “Penguin Coast” enclosure is a 5-frequency geodesic dome, 60′ in diameter and 12′ in height. Cladding consists of triangular single-layer skylights using G-UVT acrylic material, which transmits a great deal of ultraviolet required for the health of the wildlife that will call this structure their home.

Also included in CST’s part of this project is perimeter flashing, custom hub covers, and a supportive frame for the fan at the top center of the dome. The finish on all components is kynar paint.
